Why use dry-lining?
Dry-lining is used in modern and new housing for its speed and efficiency. It is much quicker to dry-line a room or house as opposed to more conventional methods such as block, sand and cement. Dry-lining rooms also means that it is relatively easy to change the size or floorplan of a room which is particulalry useful in self build projects.
There are some who would argue that dry-lining is a cheap alternative to traditional build and lacks the feel of a 'traditional' building. Dry-lining clearly does have a place in modern or traditional buildings but customer preference will always dictate whether or not is is used. There are many advantages.
Dry-lining has moved on over the years and there are now many types of plasterboard which can be used for varying purposes such as:-
- Aqua board - used in wet areas such as bathrooms and shower enclosures
- Sound board - used for its acoustic performance
- foil back board - used for its thermal advantages
- fire board - used for fire protection
- and many more types
