A recent rendering project

A recent rendering project

We recently were asked to render an extension in Cheshire.  We were told that the client wanted a a smooth but ’swirly’ effect.  The client had already ordered some coloured render to match in with the existing stonework.

In order to get the right effect we used sponges on the hardened render.  The client is very happy with the result!  Just hope it dries to the right colour for him.

My Plastering Blog

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

So here it is…my first blog and it’s going to be all about plastering.  To a lot of people, plastering is considered to be an art form.  It’s the one trade that most DIYers either have a go at and never try it again or they’re too afraid to have a go in the first place.

The fact is, plastering is just like any other job.  It’s easy once you know how and just about ANYONE can be taught the basics of plastering in a very short space of time.

The secret to plastering is timing and speed.  You can be taught the timing side of things, like when it is best to start troweling out.  Speed is a different matter…it only comes with practice and lots of it!

Check out my website www.martins-plastering-services.co.uk for some idea as to the type of work we do.  Hopefully, over the next few months I’ll be able to explain how plastering is done.

See you soon
